Fyntwa Succulent Nursery

Started in 2002 by Martin Scott in the ever startling Klein Karoo in the bustling tourist town of Oudtshoorn, Fyntwa Succulent Nursery has grown from merely a collection to an export treasure around the world.

Martin spent his childhood around succulent plants while he helped his mother maintain her collection. He inherited this collection after she passed away and started the nursery some years later with both his inheritance and his own rather extensive collection. Being limited by space, he decided on the name "Fyntwa", a Khoi / Afrikaans word meaning "small plants". The nursery now sells small to medium sized plants and started exporting in 2009.

Doing what Martin does takes not only a great passion for succulents, but also a measure of patience. To export the plants he needs to wait approximately 4 to 7 years before the plants are big enough to travel abroad and he does all the pollination by hand! This will ensure that the plants are pure bred and of a much higher quality. He also keeps the plants to be exported in an insect free area.

Fyntwa Succulent Nursery can be found at 47 North Street, Oudtshoorn and can be visited on Mondays and Saterdays. On visiting the nursery you be able to find a variety of succulent plants including Agave, Aloe, Euphorbia, Stapelia, Haworthia, Gasteria, Echeveria, Sempervivum and Cacti. Beyond that, Martin is very knowledgable on his passion and will be able to help you with information that only years of experience can bring.

Explore the site and enjoy the splendour of the succulents!
